Ofsted requires that all directors actively involved in the service and having access to children undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Caretips advises that even if the directors will not have direct access to children, they should still have a DBS check as part of good governance, safer recruitment, and fit person assessment.
The nominated individual or person, as well as registered managers, must also undergo a DBS check.
Ofsted will accept any DBS on the update service as long as you have been checked for children. They will require a copy of your DBS to be uploaded when completing your SC2.
If you have difficulty obtaining your DBS, we can arrange one for you through a third party. The fee for a check is £75 inclusive, payable in advance. You will need to provide proof of identity, such as a driving licence or passport.
You must provide proof of address, which can be a bank statement or a bill. This should is usually expected to be dated within 3 months.
It is your responsibility to ensure you register your DBS on the update service. You can only register your DBS on the update service as long as you do it within 28 days from when it is published.
